Call for Artists - Clash of the Canvas 2022

May 20, 2022

Can you make a painting in just 20 minutes? How about in front of a live audience? If you think you have what it takes to showcase your talents in this live competitive painting competition, we want you to show us what you've got!

Clash of the Canvas is a live painting competition showcasing local visual artists in the midst of the annual Bluesfest. As the artists, you will be competing alongside each other in a timed round of 20 minutes of painting. The audience will then vote for your work which will determine whether you move onto the second round of painting to compete for the champion title. In conjunction with Bluesfest, artists will be asked to paint with 'Blues' as the inspiration for their piece.

Artists will be expected to paint live for 20 minutes (and again if moved on to second round). The subject matter of the artwork must be Blues inspired. Artists will be provided with a 24x18" canvas, an easel and a plate of acrylic paint (Black, White, Primary colours and a mystery colour), a mixing plate, water cup and paper towel. Artists must bring their own brushes. Artists will be asked to stay behind to bring home their work. Selected artists will recieve a full information package prior to event.

Prize: The winner will recieve a $100 prize and earn a solo exhibition during next year's Bluesfest. Runners-up will recieve an honourary gift card.

We are seeking 6-8 artists to participate. It is free for artists to compete! We ask that you fill out the required information in our Artist Applicaiton to be sent to: info@kennedygallery.org
